vCenter/ESXi 5.5 to 6.0 license question
Stupid question here. We've been running ESXi 5.5 for a long time and then recently got some new hosts that were licensed for 6.0 but had to downgrade the license to 5.5. Now, we are going to be ordering some new hosts that will be licensed for 6.0 but we want to stick with 6.0 going forward. I know we have to upgrade our vCenter server to 6.0 first in order to place the new hosts in vCenter, but since all of our hosts and vCenter is licensed for 5.5 do we need to upgrade our license to 6.0 (and is there a cost for that?) first before we upgrade vCenter? Also, is this the right path to upgrade to 6.0:
-Upgrade VCSA
-Upgrade vCenter Update Manager
-Upgrade ESXi Hosts
-Upgrade vmware tools/hardware
